Songlr ("we", "our", "us") is a free music streaming platform that allows users to discover, stream and share music. Our service is available at songlr.com and related sub-domains. We act as the data controller for personal information collected through our platform.

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, username, email address and a hashed password.

Usage data: We log songs you play, playlists you create, artists you follow, and interactions such as likes and comments. This data powers your personalised experience including listening history and recommendations.

Device & technical data: We automatically collect IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited. This is used for security, debugging and analytics.

Cookies & local storage: We use browser storage to remember your theme preference, volume setting, and to keep you logged in via session tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Profile content: Profile pictures, bio text, and other content you voluntarily upload or enter.

We use your data to: (a) operate and improve the Songlr service; (b) personalise your listening experience; (c) send transactional emails such as password reset and notification emails; (d) detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security threats; (e) comply with legal obligations; (f) generate anonymised, aggregated analytics about how our service is used.

Songlr streams music through the YouTube IFrame API in compliance with YouTube's Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms). By using Songlr you also agree to Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Song metadata, artist information and album artwork stored in our own database has been curated from publicly available sources. We do not claim ownership of music content; all rights remain with the respective rights holders. We operate under a web embedding model consistent with YouTube's terms, which permits embedded playback of publicly available YouTube content.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with:

Service providers: Hosting, database and email providers who process data solely on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.

Legal requests: Where required by law, court order or governmental authority.

Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your data may be transferred. We will notify users by email or a prominent notice on our site before data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We retain your account information as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law. Anonymised play history may be retained for analytics purposes.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access a copy of your data; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and associated data; restrict or object to processing; and data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@songlr.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Songlr is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access controls. However, no internet service is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will notify registered users by email.
